Grab Your Costumes – We’re Gearing Up for Street Festivals!

Here in Central City, we love any reason to throw a good party … after all, we have been known to dance in the streets in period costumes a time or two. In 2023, there will be no shortage of street festivals and events with plenty of flashy costumes, cold drinks, crazy competitions, and historical traditions. If you’re planning a trip to Central City, why not make it one of these weekends?

Levit Street Market: Sundays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., June-September

We love celebrating our artists and performers in Central City – our cultural and historical roots run deep. Every Sunday from June to September, we feature a rotating arrangement of vendors, craft makers, farmers, service providers, and much more. Where else can you purchase fresh produce, listen to live music, and pick up a gift or craft in the shadow of Colorado history?  Up-to-date information can be found on the Facebook page @LevitStMarket.

Madam Lou Bunch Day: June 17

Picture this: wild costumes from the 1800s, including ballgowns with feathers and lace, live music, historical and hilarious skits, food and beer vendors, and our local businesses pushing each other in a large brass bed down the street dressed in silk pajamas. We really can’t describe it; you need to be there to experience the delightful hilariousness of Colorado’s only event celebrating this prominent historical figure – the one and only Madam Lou Bunch.

Stills in the Hills: July 1

We’re of the opinion that any day you can drink and dance in the street is a good day. During Stills in the Hills, historic Main Street in Central City becomes one big speakeasy! Tickets include the opportunity to taste lots of spirits. Liquor, beer, and wine are available inside any casino bar, which can be brought into the street with an official Central City plastic to-go cup. But you don’t have to drink alcohol to enjoy this festival. There is also live music (dancing is encouraged), food vendors, and art vendors with a variety of products to browse and purchase.  More information and tickets can be found at stillsinthehills.com.

Great Central City Beer Festival: August 26

You’ve heard of our mining history, but how about our beer history? Central City has been brewing beer with locally grown hops for over 150 years. Sample brews from favorites such as Cannonball Creek Brewing Company, Dostal Alley, Tommyknocker Brewery, Ratio Beerworks, and Cabin Creek Brewing, to name a few. Find the full list and tickets at centralcitybeerfest.com. Like any great street festival, you can also enjoy music and fantastic vendors.

This summer is sure to be one for the books! Find our full event calendar on our Events page. Which summer street festival sounds the most intriguing to you?
